The Mindy Project

If you haven't started watching this show, you may need to reevaluate your life.

My love affair with Mindy Kaling started when she was Kelly on The Office. Then I found out she wrote some of the episodes and became a producer.  She has mad talent.

I also discovered she had this awesome blog. It hasn't been updated in awhile -girlfriend has been busy - but it was one of those great reads where you think only 5 minutes have passed but actually you spent your entire workday ready post after post.

Then I read her book Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me (And other concerns). I read it over a day and I burst out laughing a lot.

Now she has her show the aforementioned Mindy Project. Some people compare it to New Girl. I think it's because her and Jess both have that adorkable silly girl thing going on. I personally think it's way better than NG. While Jess has that quirky, hipster girl vibe, I can relate more to Mindy. Mainly because she says stuff like this:

And this

And this

So if you haven't seen it, what are you waiting for?!

Have a great weekend!

Style Envy

I realise I am late to the party when it comes to Suits. I just had a whole bunch of other, more shall we say gripping shows to watch. I've finally caught up and I get what y'all were all saying about Harvey but what I really love about the show is the ladies' style.

As much as I love the freedom of my current workplace, I do kinda long for an office where I can rock out pencil skirts, Roland Mouret-inspired dress shapes, towering heels and have perfect hair daily.

There is so much awe and also jealousy whenever Rachel comes up on screen in yet another ah-mazing pencil skirt. I have a couple of pencil skirts yet none of mine look as good as hers. This is mostly based on my gym habits and Fat Kid syndrome for that particular week. Mine tend to ride up a lot and then I do this awkward shuffling walk as I try to smooth them down and make them all neat. I look attractive.

Donna brings a whole bunch of sexy to the office. Everything in her wardrobe is fitted, stylish and has a little something something that intrigues yet isn't too dull for the workplace. I want to be her.

This obsession started back when Mad Men did and since then all I really want is a tailored wardrobe with which I can take on the world. I mean, do you think Joan thinks she *doesn't* kick ass in this assemble. Puh-lease.

Any style crushes?

Happy Friday

I am trying my damn near hardest to be positive and not let things get me down this year. I have some very exciting things in the pipeline and all I want to do is cut out the negativity and move on and up. Sadly there are several people and factors that do not allow me to do this.

I am trying not to be defeated but it is insanely hard. So to make me and in turn you guys happy, here is the world's most adorable baby polar bear being tickled.

Have a great weekend.

Dear Future Boyfriend Part 10

Hey there lover.

As you know I am still patiently waiting for you to make you move so we can end up in loved-up bliss where I can get really fat and you still love me forever. Also you buy me shiny things.

As you are taking your sweet ol’ time doing your thang – and yes I know we shouldn’t hurry love – I have obviously gotten used to some expectations. Apart from the little and big things in the previous letters, I have also gotten some ideas and perceptions about what a good couple should be. Firstly we should be awesome, not gonna be hard we both rock that’s why we’re together; we have to appreciate each other and show it; and we have to have fun, passion, laughs and sexy times.

Straight off the back that sounds like a lot of pressure. So to alleviate some and perhaps give you some inspiration, I’ve identified some couples you can look to for guidance.

Who Michael and Holly
From  The Office (US)
Why  To me a soulmate is someone who just gets you. And if that person is into you in a romantic way, it’s just fabulous. Michael and Holly worked because unlike the other peeps in the office or his other girlfriends, she got him. She took all his silliness, his flaws and his crazy and she loved him. They almost didn’t make it but he knew she was the one and he made it happen. And now they can be dorks together, forever.
Best Moment When Michael proposed with the help of the entire office and a million candles. Also he mistakenly spent 3 years salary on an engagement ring instead of 3 months.

Who Patrick and Kat
From 10 Things I Hate About You
Why Okay so they didn’t get together under the best circumstances. No girl wants to hear she’s only a prospect because there’s money involved. But in the end it all worked out. Along the way he managed to bring down her walls and she learnt how to open up thanks to him. They both found what they didn’t even know what they were looking for.
Best Moment Patrick serenading Kat on the soccer field. Swoon!

Who Daenerys and Khal Drogo
From Game of Thrones TV Show and A Song of Fire and Ice Book Series
Why Again another couple that didn’t start off on the right foot. Unless you consider your brother selling you off to a tribe for an army as romantic. In the series (books and TV) Dany is not happy about the union in the begining. But like any other woman in a tough situation; she finds a way to make it work. And then she finds a way to love her man. And then they have hot sex. Also they call each other My Star and Stars and Moon of my Life.
Best Moment When Khal agrees to help his love win back her family’s seat on the Iron Throne. If you’ve read the books, you’ll know this is a MAJOR thing.

Who Jamal and Latika
From Slumdog Millionaire
Why Nothing like a story that fights the odds. These two survived riots, Indian slums, poverty and crime lords to be together. From the beginning Jamal knew it was written and you cannot fight destiny. Also they get to do a killer Bollywood dance at the end.
Best Moment Jamal entering the Indian version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire because he knows Latika watches it.

It's My Birthday

Today I turn 26 and at the moment thanks to all my amazing friends I am currently feeling like this puppy:

Tomorrow when I wake up, realise I'm 26 and have yet to marry into royalty, have a car that doesn't always start and have yet to decrease my thigh circumference I will be looking like this:

Until then...

Would Like To Meet...

Whether it was Prince Eric or Todd from Sweet Valley High or Dawson or Mr Darcy, I couldn’t help falling in love with fictional characters. They were so much easier to deal with than real life boys. If you wanted to spend time with them, you’d play a DVD or open up a book. This probably explains why I have so many boy issues now.

Now these characters are the best a woman can hope for. They’re the Noahs, the Patrick Swayzes in Ghost and Landon in A Walk to Remember. These guys are too perfect, too romantic, too unobtainable. We’ll never find our own Mark Darcy.

But if we’re willing to settle just a bit, we can find awesome guys who are not as prolific. I’ve identified five fictional characters that I’d be interested in dating. They don’t own Pemberley or are sparkly vampires or will rescue a girl from a life of prostitution but am pretty sure they’ll make us happy.

Note: if you’re a guy and resemble any of these guys, please let me know. Cuddlers need not apply.

Blaine Anderson – Glee

Why? He sings, he dances, he has great hair and can dress like a mofo.
Why not? He’s gay.
Plus he used to go to a private school, which means his dad must have some moolah. So no worries about having to always go to McDonalds for dates. Not that I’m not into that, it’s just that a girl likes to be spoiled.
MVP Quote You did win. So did I. We got each other out of all this. That beats a lousy trophy, don't you think?

Jake Jagielski – One Tree Hill

Why? He was nice to Lucas when he joined the basketball team, he took care of his daughter because his baby momma turned out to be a stupid ho, he sings and he was very sexy.
Why not? Not sure if I can raise another woman’s child. Also baby momma drama is not my scene.
Plus? There is something about a sexy dad. Also he wrote and dedicated a song to Peyton.
MVP Quote I could have held you in my arms forever, and it still wouldn't have been long enough.

The Best Friend – Love Actually

Why? He can organise cool things like a band playing All You Need Is Love. He is also loyal, he doesn’t act on his feelings for his best friend’s wife.
Why not? He doesn’t mind filming his best friend’s wife. Creep alert.
Plus He works at an art gallery so lots of opportunities for free cheese and wine. And a cool venue.
MVP Quote To me, you are perfect.

Gerry – Ps. I Love You (the book)

Why? He fell in love with his childhood sweetheart and when he realised he was sick and going to die soonish he developed a plan to help her cope with his death.
Why not? He is immortalised in film by Gerald Butler. And Hilary Swank is in the movie. Urgh!
Plus He was romantic, funny and thoughtful. Again, the book version.
MVP Quote Sometimes there is only one thing left to say, P. S. I Love You...

Tristan Thorne – Stardust

Why? He used all his savings to spoil the girl of his dreams on her birthday and then when she asked him for a falling star, he went to the ends of the earth to get it for her.
Why not? He is a horrible judge of character when it comes to girls.
Plus He’s a dreamer, very cute and is heir to a magical kingdom.
MVP Quote I'm not being silly. I'd do it. For you, I'd do anything.

Any favourites?
