Apartment Therapy

One of my biggest motivators to work and to work hard (because sadly they are different things) is that one day I want to buy myself a little cottage. And by buy I mean I want to save for that deposit (because there is no way I can do more than that in one go) all on my own. No parents helping me, no trust fund from a distant relative, no rich boyfriend or husband. I want to work hard and do this myself.  On a side note, I don't have any disdain for all those other reasons, I would probably still accept all of them if I needed to, but this one is about me.

I want to buy my own little place before I marry Michael Fassbender and we have to split our time between his acting career in Hollywood and my writing career around the globe. Because I'm gonna be a best-selling author and on tour constantly. I want my little place to be a reflection of me and my personality. I want this place to be where I feel happy, where I can lounge, where I can feel safe and where i get my seksi on.

One day. One day.

In my dream first home I want my lounge to be the embodiment of relaxation and comfort. It's the place I'll collapse after a hard day at work or the place I go when I need to entertain the girls and the gays. It's the place I want to go where I watch bad TV with no one talking and judging me. I'll see it as my refuge.

My kitchen needs to look like a cupcake exploded in there. It's no secret I like pretty, sparkly, girlie things but I do know this can be a bit much. So instead little touches can make my dream kitchen come again.

My bedroom is always a funny point for my friends. Whenever I mention my ideas for it they burst out laughing. Why? Because I want my bedroom to be a boudoir of sex. That's right. This is the place where my inner Dita Von Tees comes out (because she's hella sexy amirite?!). This is not the place to chill out and watch Nashville; this is not the place where my fat pants are allowed; this is not the place I nurse my hangovers; this is the place where magic happens. It's about a sexy headboard, it's about candles and a chenille throw and dark purples and gray on the wall.

So I'm just gonna keep on working and dreaming :)

Can We All Take A Moment...

...and just admire Cary Agos from The Good Wife aka Logan from Gilmore Girls aka my new fantasy boyfriend.

All together now: sigh.

That is all.

The Dream

This week is a fail. So last night after getting home late we watched Bridget Jones' Diary for about the 100th million time. And as always, we swooned at this part.

Like I said, the dream.

In My Dreams

Every now and again I like to torture myself by going to Net-a-Porter and browsing the "What's New" pages.

I can't afford the items, yet. But I'm practising for the day when I'm Oprah rich.

This is one item I would very much like to afford. I'm not sure if I can pull it off but I cannot stop looking at it.

It's called the Notte and it's by Marchesa. It's also what female wet dreams are made of ;)

Something Old, Something New

If I had to describe myself (to a potential mate, a prospective boss or just to anyone who’d be willing to listen) I’d use the word ambitious. I have lots of dreams and I have faith I will achieve them. While I’m working hard to achieve my dreams, a lot of other stuff gets pushed back to the metaphorical closet.

I was the queen of “Ooh I must do this.” Or “As soon as I can afford it I’ll do that.” Or “Please remind me to finally get ‘round to it.”

Then last month I got sick of putting things off and decided to just do them. I don’t want to get all morbid but when this life is over, I want to look back and say, no regrets.

In order not to get bored or give up, I’ve decided that once a week I’ll do something new. There are no limits or rules on this “something new” so it gives me a chance to get round to some exciting stuff and some not so exciting stuff.

I started this last week so the next post will be about my first new thing I’ve done. I have yet to do something new this week so if there are any suggestions please let me know!

Happy Tuesday!

Monday's Mantra

This week is about achieving dreams.
I believe in angels. They're called baristas and make you lattes.
I’m addicted to red velvet cupcakes.
I wish money was never a concern.
It's sucky that I have to pay another speeding ticket.

The Ultimate Dream Job...

Over the years my dream job as varied from Princess to Catwalk model (I came down from that cloud really fast) to Amazing Race winner to Tina Fey's best friend.

More realistically I've always wanted to write about things I love. Blogging definitely indulges, er allows me to write about things I love. Unfortunately the lack of remuneration does not make it a job per se.

Until now...Bronx Ladies Footwear has announced a faboosh competition where you could win a year of shoes for blogging.

They're searching for the ultimate female blogger who embodies the core values of the brand, namely fun, sassy and a lover of affordable fashion. Um, yes please.

The chosen one will have to blog three weekly entries for the brand covering a range of topics. And in return, a year's supply of free shoes.

If you'd like to enter, and you'd be crazy not to, head on over here for all the deets.

Good luck!

Monday's Mantra

This week I'll mostly be on shoot.
I believe boys are bigger drama queens.
I'm addicted to being in a tipsy state of mine. I'm more fun that way.
I wish it was payday.
It's sucky that chocolate contains calories

We Have Faith...The Skinny Bitches Progress Report

This weekend, I was rushing to get to my hair appointment on time when I realised that I didn't have a CD to listen to.

I grabbed one of my old compilations I made years ago. And it taught me a few things:
1) no matter how much I profess about my excellent music taste, I'm actually wrong;
2) when making compilations I should try and keep genres together (Basement Jaxx and Papa Roach, good lord); and
3)a good song, no matter what it is can remind you how awesome life is.

My song was Dream by The Everley Brothers. Before you judge me for this song or even query it's existence on my CD, see above.
I remember hearing this song in an old made-for-tv 50s movie. My mother also used to sing the first line (dream, dream, dream) to me. Not to encourage me but to discourage me from wanting things I didn't need.

As I thought about the song, and my deprived childhood, I realised, we, Skinny Bitches are getting closer to our dream. Or should I say dreams. But one at a time. Although they're little steps, we're making a glittering trail towards our first apartment, our dream jobs and boyfriends.
Firstly, it's June so we can officially start looking for a flat for August. We're getting all our donated furniture together and we're so happy. Mostly because we have all the expensive items and also because we can spend the rest of our savings on booze and fancy light fixtures. We're finally growing up.

On the job front, Blue Eyes is doing fabulously as an account executive while I'm testing the waters of magazine journalism. There's not much out there but everyone in publishing now has my contact details and I'm hoping it's just a matter of time before they start knocking.

On the boys front, no cute boys to kiss corners yet. But we're both making efforts so that when they fall head over heels in love with us, they won't be disappointed. I am going to gym four times a week. If I build the perfect body, he will come! And Blue Eyes, she got herself a new bed, so she's hoping he'll also come!

In all, we're edging our way there. It may be slow but we always have faith that it will happen.

After all you need is faith, trust and pixie dust.
