Monday's Mantra

This week is about enjoying myself. Detox starts this weekend.
I believe Green Eyes will succeed in her detox; as long as I don't have suffer for it.
I'm addicted to cream cheese and The Beatles.
I wish pay day would come already.
I'm jealous of Kimora . Have you seen her closet?!

In & Out

I saw Ashwini do this over on her blog Clearly Beautiful and thought I’d shamelessly copy it.

In

Sales. Lots of fabulous clothes and homeware items are so much cheaper. Need to hit the shops.

Scrambled eggs on toast. My ideal choice would be with white bread and creamy eggs but since I’m trying to make lifestyle changes, I’ll settle Low GI bread and no sauces.

My new maxi dress. Have yet to wear it but just looking at it in my wardrobe is enough to get me excited.

Blue eye shadow. It makes an all-black ensemble pop.

Out

Money. Seriously. I am all out of it. One of the drawbacks about getting paid early in December.

The scar on my forehead. I burnt my skin whilst trying to curl my hair. I now have a ugly scar that makeup cannot cover up. On the plus side, my hair looked great, nice and natural-looking waves.

Push Play not sending us new DVDs. I saw Hairspray is next on our list. How can you deprive me of that? I want to get my Zac Efron on.

Something to Make You Giggle

Have you ever received an email or have been IMing with something and you read something so funny it makes you want to burst out loud with laughter. But because you're at work you can't really laugh loudly so you do that silent laugh where your body keels over and you start shaking 'cause you're trying to keep it all in and then your eyes start watering and then suddenly you're the weird girl who has convulsions at work?

Yes? No? Just me then?!

Anyway, I was informed of a blog that made me laugh in the above fashion. It's called Sleep Talking Man and it consists of a wife blogging about her husband's night time chattering. There is more to it but I didn't want to bore you with that. Instead check out my favourite snippets that he has said while asleep.

"You can't be a pirate if you don't have a beard. I said so. MY boat, MY rules."

"Your mum's at the door again. Bury me. Bury me deep."

"Don't... Don't put the noodles and the dumplings together in the boat. They'll fight! The noodles are bullies. Poor dumplings."

"I haven't put on weight. Your eyes are fat."

"Vegetarians will be the first to go. That's my plan. Vegans haven't got a hope. 'I eat air, I'm so healthy...' Bollocks!"

"I've got a really terrible terrible feeling about this custard tart. Terrible."

"I don't want to watch. I want to get my hands dirty, all the way up to my shoulder. Filthy."

"Since when did my underwear look good on you? Take it off. Take it off your face."

Beautiful Blogger Award

Skinny Bitches were tagged by Miss E over at Little Lady for the Beautiful Blogger award.

What a great way to start a Monday! Thanks E. You is awesome!

Make sure you go and visit her blog for some doses of loveliness.

Now the criteria of the award is that we thank the giver and link back to her blog (as above) and then we list seven interesting things about ourselves.

Here goes:

1. Nothing gets me more motivated for gym than listening to ABBA on the way there.

2. My favourite episode of Friends is the one where the girls lose their apartment to the guys through Ross' trivia game.

3. I have learnt to bite my tongue and not let every little thing get to me. But it is an ongoing struggle.

4. I love love love Oreo McFlurrys.

5. It's one of my (more superficial) dreams to be on The Sartorialist.

6. I'm terrible with money.

7. I have always loved makeup but now I'm learning how to apply it properly. And I'm not sure how I survived without MAC.

In my little office

It's week two back at the office and what I thought was going to be a tearful week has turned in to a calm, relaxed and poised one. Although, Im ot sure how poised one can be with a dodgy tan on her legs and still trying to get sand out from under her nails from a very windy shoot.

Preparations have been made at work to make my work life a little more bearable. And I've learnt a few things in the process. But instead of me babbling on like a twit i've summarised.

Things I've learnt
  • that I have been doing my fair share of other people's work
  • that i'm appreciated at work by my colleagues and clients
  • that there is always a solution to something, no matter how bad it seems

Things that have changed

  • i've moved in to my own little office (which sounds fancier than what it is, but basically I have more space in which to spread my crap around)
  • we have 2 x new people on our team which is always a good thing, many hands make light work
  • lunches will be taken and I will try leave before 6pm
  • I can actually blog for a change

So all in all, im feeling positive about the year ahead which wasn't always the case. for a second there i had grand plans to travel, go oversee's and work, become a camp consellor....you know how it it, sometimes enough is enough, but if things work out the way they are supposed to, then I may be around here for another year.

I hope all you working bloggers have started the work year on a good note.

Things I'm Craving

*Sleep

*Cupcakes

*The purple Burberry Trench Coat

*Second season of Beautiful People

*Hot pink peep-toe heels

*Spinach and feta pie

*Baked potato with bacon bits and spices

I realise most of my cravings revolve around food. I'm okay with that ;)

Is it Home Time Yet?

In a bid to be more disciplined this year and commit to my four weekly gym visits, I got up at 5.30 this morning to get ready for the gym.

Actually what really happened was alarm went off at 5.30. I ignored it till 5.45 and then decided if I left now the gym wouldn't even be open. So I waited (i.e. dozed) till 6 and then walked to the gym.

I'm not sure how I managed to do all that cardio and still walk home. But I did. I felt energised when I got home. I even had a spring in my step when I got to work. Early morning sessions do make a lot of a difference.

They also make you incredibly tired as I have just found out. I feel as if I'm about to pass out at my desk. Not even coffee or a coke light has helped. I'm afraid of blinking too much cos my eyes might like the closed sensation and then I'll fall asleep at my desk.

Going to have lunch now and hoping that will help. Otherwise you will find me sleeping under my desk.

Weekend News

On Friday the girls and gays went to see The September Issue. I think I love Anna Wintour even more. No matter if you’re interested in fashion or even care about Vogue magazine, you need to see this movie.

On Saturday, it was my birthday! I got given a lovely present by my roomie and fellow skinny bitch and then we went out for breakfast. We also did a little window shopping and found some amazing dresses. Only problem is, we’re crazy broke and it was the hardest thing to put them back because we need to spend our money on food and petrol. Too bad those dresses can’t do that.

Later that day, the gays came over again and we had a getting ready party for that evening. We started the night at Boo Radleys with friends and families. I was totally spoilt. Not only by the great cosmos. Not too sweet and not too sour but perfect. And I got amazing gifts. It was awesome. So awesome in fact that I think I may have to celebrate it again in six months. Birthdays totally need anniversaries. After cocktails, we headed to the Dubliner where drinks were doubled, I hurt Blue Eyes when I tried to do the jumping lift from Dirty Dancing and almost slapped a girl who kept dancing in our area. “Bitch, that’s my song. I need to break it down.”

The next morning, however, was not so awesome. The last time I was that hung-over was the year before, also at my birthday. I did not feel good. It got so bad I had to go home to my parents house so my mom could look after me. In the end I had to sleep it off and later that evening when I eventually came to, I was ravenous. After 10 hours of sleep, I ate everything in my way. I’m back to feeling normal but am still pretty dehydrated so have attached a large water bottle to my side.

Hope everyone else’s weekend was just as fabulous.
