Letters To My Children
Under the moniker "Letters to My Children" you can rant and rant about all the stuff you learned and know and pass it onto your kids without sounding like a know-it-all. Which is something I really like. Under the guise of preparing your offspring for this world you can say what you want and no one can excuse you of being selfish. Which is awesome.
Now I don't have any kids and until Future Boyfriend comes along, those cute Asian babies we'll adopt are still a dream away. That however hasn't stopped me from preparing my Future Babies. Obviously I want them to stand up for their beliefs and be true to themselves and all that nonsense *but* more importantly I want to guide them through the little stuff.
So hear are my letters to my children...
...No one likes a smug bitch or a douche. Don't be either.
...Never be the car who has slowed down to look at an accident. It's common and it slows down traffic.
...Always be nice to people who serve you food. Just think of all the bad stuff they can do if you're not.
...Never save clothes, shoes or perfume for a special occasion. Make every occasion special. You'll regret never wearing all the pretty things.
...Learn to enjoy your own company. Seriously, sometimes all you need is a big bowl of pasta, fat pants and your favourite by yourself.
...Learn the words to the Beatles song. This will help on drunken nights out, pub quizzes and also it's some of the best music ever created.
...Go to the movies by yourself. On a weekday morning. Stretch out in the comfort of an empty cinema and chew your popcorn as loudly as you want.
...Girls, flats are for quitters ;)
...Never trust a guy/girl who wants to make a sex tape. And if you're the one who suggested it, we need to talk.
...Be nice to people even if you don't like them. It's not two-faced, it's being a bigger person.
...Learn to bake something particularly awesome. Like cupcakes or cheesecake or pecan pie. This is more for me in my old age and laziness than for your better self.
...Don't be afraid to dance. You may not have my skills on the dancefloor but that shouldn't stop you. And by skills I mean I can do the Footloose dance and the routine for Oops! I Did It Again.
...Do more things. Like bowling. I hated it when I was 10. I tried it again at 25. I didn't get better, I may have gotten worse but now I have an unflattering picture of me doing it. Memories.
...Make wishes at 11:11. Not sure why that time but just do it!

Monday's Mantra

This week holds some new experiences.
I believe my ear is going to burst.
I’m addicted to Snickers, The Beatles’ All My Loving and Liz Lemon.
I wish I didn’t feel this way about my job.
It’s sucky to fear rejection so much.

Things That I ♥
CoffeeIn the past couple of weeks, my love for coffee has turned into a full-on addiction. I have to make daily trips to Vida to get my latte fix. And that’s right I’m buying fancy coffee. My addiction is not only expensive it is also proud. No instant for me. After my second take away today I decided to put a spending ban on my wallet. Except me to look like one of the zombies from Shaun of the Dead without my caffeine fix.
The Beatles Songs
I’ve been playing Across the Universe soundtrack on repeat. I absolutely love the movie and anytime I hear the Beatles I smile. I’ve also discovered Rufus Wainwright’s version of the song Across the Universe and I have fallen in love with it.
The Easter Season
Finally a reason to enjoy chocolate without the guilt. My dietician is surprisingly not such a big fan. But I drown her out with some more chocolate.
Four Day Weeks
This is our second of three four day working weeks in SA. It’s bliss. Nothing gets you out of bed quicker than the thought that tomorrow is the last day before a four day weekend. I cannot wait!
Receiving Packages
I love getting mail. I hate when said mail is bills or junk though. I’m happy when it’s Pushplay with our new dvds and I’m even happier when it’s a package! Last week I received my dress from Africhic.com and today I received a fabulous Essie nail polish from the Bronx Ladies Footwear team. It’s a beautiful purple colour and it’s called Footloose. Considering I’m a huge fan of the movie and the song, I was over the moon. Will definitely be doing a mani this weekend.

Monday's Mantra

This week things can only get better.
I believe a latte can solve almost everything.
I'm addicted to carbs which is v bad.
I wish I had the energy to go to gym.
I'm jealous of no one, except my usual feelings for skinny, pretty & wealthy people.

*Just noticed there are an overload of Beatles songs on the blog. I watched Across The Universe for the gazillion time and am on a Beatles binge.

It's Driving Me Mad, It's Driving Me Mad*
I really need to stop browsing Net-a-Porter. All it does is make me sad that I cannot afford the clothes.
Here are the latest pieces I am crying over:
This DKNY wrap dress is amazing. The crossover in the front would hide the aftermaths of not going to the gym. I’m thinking some gold bracelets or a chunky gold necklace would help.
I love love love this skirt from Steven Alan. I want to forgo the next few months food budget so I can buy it. Yes it’s simple but the shape is for me, the perfect skirt. I want to tuck in a white shirt and bold blue belt or wear a feminine blouse and rock some fierce heels with it. I want it so bad.
This is a strapless taffeta dress from Donna Karan. Can you say cocktail party.
Corsets are going to be huge this summer or says my new issue of Cosmo. I like that this Bottega Veneta dress is sexy on top but is knee length. So this dusty lavender number will provide you with some mystery when you’re out on the town.
