All The Pretty Things

So earlier this week I attended the Press Stick Autumn/Winter Preview and launch of their new online portal. I managed to snap some of the pretty things on offer...

Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me

As any Skinny Bitch in the making knows, if you want to be on top-of-the-world fabulous you have to cover all aspects of your life. So while I’m still searching for the perfect job (Bill Gates, adopt me I’d be the perfect trust fund child) and I’m waiting for Bradley Cooper to get his shit together and propose I work on the other stuff.

At the moment, I’m busy working on the skinny part of the skinny bitch I hope to become. The bitch part has come along nicely ;) Obviously banning carbs from my diet and increasing my gym visits from none to a few a week has done some good. Now I am not one of those girls that skimps on beauty products and procedures. I visit spas, I dry loofah before I shower and I even bought paraffin wax for home pedicures.

Now when it comes to products I remain loyal to the ones that work and smell nice but that doesn’t mean I’m not above using other products. While I’m too afraid to go out to a bar by myself or try scuba diving I can be crazy adventurous with my beauty products. I’m like the Tiger Woods in that respect; I got the ones that I love at home but I’m always on the lookout for new ones on the side.

So when a little bird told me about a ‘little’ site that boasted fab new body products that smelt nice and are natural and all that jazz, I immediately requested some samples. Body Thrills is a collection of handmade, natural products that are designed to make you feel all wholesome and fabulous. Founded by Tamaryn Watkins, the site has gone from a blog to a nifty ecommerce site with user-friendly features and online shopping facilities.

I was lucky enough to try out a few of the products. This is me trying not to eat the Lemon Nougat and Honey Coconut Body Polish. This BP is a fab granular exfoliator that isn’t too harsh on the skin and smells like baked goods. I don’t think I need to say more.

This is me having a moment with the Lemongrass and Juniper Berry body butter. There is something about lemongrass, I just can’t get enough.

And finally, this is me pondering whether I should bathe in the Pina Colado Body Polish or pop it into a cocktail glass with some ice.

If you’re looking for the some great body treats, head on over to Body Thrills; they have a wide range of products (for men and preggos too) and even have some great specials just in time for Christmas.

Spickernell Shoe Launch

So here's the situation...this week I was feeling way more sorry for myself than usual. Instead of the normal Why Can't I Be A Trust Fund Baby or My Thighs Are So Big They Deserve Their Own Traffic Lane whine I was sick, I couldn't gorge myself on junk foods because of my diet and I looked terrible.

Luckily there was light at the end of the tunnel. I was invited to the Spickernell shoe launch. So armed with a fashion buddy and a clutch bag filled with tissues I headed off to the James Mudge Studio in Gardens.

And all I can say is wow! Think elegant and timeless pieces that are still modern and stylish and utterly feminine and you're about halfway there. If I wasn't about to exchange all my moolah for Thai baht I'd be one of the dozens of peeps putting down a deposit for next season's order.

The lady behind these beauties is Sarah Spickernell who used to do all types of fashion stuff in London before strutting her stuff at Edgars and Marion and Linde. Now after spending some time in Spain learning all about the leather industry, she's putting those skills to use in her new collection.

And now for my latest girl crush, I present the Kate ankle bootie in black. And in case you're wondering, that porcelain skin is not the result of a strict celeb-like diet but rather the effects of sinusitis.

Hanging With Bryan Boy

On Friday, I was lucky enough to be invited to a little do at the Sunglass Hut store at the V&A Waterfront. In case you didn't hear, SH along with Marie Claire brought out acclaimed blogger Bryan Boy to South Africa to conduct blogging workshops and present the inaugural Blogger Award at their Prix d'Excellence De La Mode ceremony.

On Friday though, he did a little meet 'n' greet with some media peeps, shopped for his sunnies and sipped champers while being completely fabulous. He took time to talk to everyone, pose for a gazillion pictures (and didn't even get mad when the requests kept on coming) and answered a lot of questions.

He is beyond fabulous and completely humble. You'd think with an international blog, front row seats to fashion week and a Marc Jacobs bag named after him he'd be forgiven for being a bit of a diva; but no he's just really lovely.

I also got to hang out with some other fabulous fashion peeps. Here's a picture with Jen Su, Chu from Fairlady magazine and awesome blogger Fashion Jazz.

Misfits - think a British version of Heroes with the bad language and low morals of the kids from Skins. And it's amazing.

Girl Crush Alert

Many of us ladies, even if we're not that way inclined, will admit to some lady-loving at some point. While most of us wouldn't kick Mila Kunis out of bed, my girl crushes tend to focus on funny, cute, smart women who may not be the sexiest but ultimately I cannot stop being drawn to them.

My number love has always been Tina Fey and then after watching Parks and Recreation I started to experience some love for Amy Poehler. Now after watching Bridesmaids, I am all about Kristen Wiig. If you've seen it, you'll understand. If you haven't stop what you're doing and go to a cinema. It's magical!

The Right Support - Competition Time

Some of us are blessed with straight hair and no spilt ends while some of us have the ability to sing; some lucky bitches, sorry, ladies out there can even claim to possess both of those attributes. I, on the other hand, can claim to have wild hair that only an industrial-sized bottle of serum and a GHD can tame and have been told on numerous occasions by the highest authorities (aka SingStar) that I am tone deaf.

Apart from that I do have one talent that I am pretty happy with. Well, maybe two. Being blessed with curves means they’re ample from my girls on top to my thighs down below. And even though they’re pretty special on their own, they still like to dress up. Which is why I was very excited to hear about this fabulous little product.

Whether you’re a lady who needs a little extra help down there or maybe you’re just looking for the best way to show ‘em off; this is the bra for you. Think of the After Eden Double Gel Bra as your new best friend. It’ll offer support when you need it, make you look good when you really need it, and most of all its er, environmentally friendly.

The Double Gel bra offers you double the support, can be worn in a multitude of ways and won’t show up underneath your t-shirt. Ding! Ding! Ding! Jackpot.

After Eden are offering one lucky reader an opportunity to win one of this magic makers.* And there are many ways you can do so.

To enter either leave a comment on this post saying why you really, really need/want one of these babies or follow After Eden on Twitter or become a fan of their Facebook page or visit their new site and tell which product you fancy. You can even do all of these just as long as you leave a comment on this post saying what you did.

*Unfortunately only peeps in SA can enter*

Good luck bitches!

Poetry's Enchanted Garden

Last week I was invited to a very special event at the Poetry store at the V&A Waterfront. For those who don’t live here, Poetry stores are where the woman I want to be when I grow up shop. So essentially when I have all the means to be sophisticated, wealthy and fabulous, not to mention skinny, this is where you’ll find me.

Inspired by other retail stores around the world, Poetry decided to celebrate Mother’s Day a little different this year. Instead of the usual banners and reminders to get our mom’s the usual gifts of slippers and bath stuff, Poetry went a little more creative by hosting a live window-painting session.

Cape Town artist Megan Hart was selected to transform the store’s window’s into a little enchanted garden, with the V&A store getting that extra bit of va-va-voom from some Cape Town fashion peeps and bloggers. I was lucky enough to be one of the fabulous few to add my name to the stores windows.

After we’d had our fill of sushi and champers, we were even presented with a little gift from Poetry for our moms. Although if I’m honest it has and probably will remain in my care :)

If you’re in the vicinity, make sure you pop to the store and see the painting, it’s tres amazing.

Here are some other bloggers who also got to make their mark:

Nicole from Vintage Lifestyle Mag (can you see her in the background?)

Jean from Social Jeanius - a Style Scoop buddy of mine.

I Don't Care What My Teachers Say...

...I'm gonna be a supermodel.

A little while ago I mentioned that I took part in a photoshoot for O Magazine in December. And now, months later the issue is finally out.

Thanks to my years of idolizing (read stalking) Style Guide Cape Town, I think she finally got sick of me peering at her from windows, "bumping" into her at fashion events and finding out her direct line that she thought this would shut me up. Just kidding, those things didn't happen or at least in that order ;)

I was lucky enough to be chosen along with Dimi from Style Scoop and Miss Milli B to represent blogger and city style. I got to wear a fabulous 50s-inspired outfit from David West and some extra high heels, which is always a plus.

Here is the result:
