The Lust-Have List

Thanks to the interwebs, online shopping and really nice PR peeps who send things, I have discovered a whole bunch of things that would make the world a better place - if they were in my wardrobe, on my bathroom shelf and on my feet. Below I give you my lust-have list. A collection of items I really, really want, have fallen in love with and will be becoming obsessed with shortly.

I'm like a magpie so anything shiny makes me smile. Considering I cannot run around dropping glitter bombs on people, I'd like to bring some sparkle with this awesome vest from Sissy Boy. It's just the right amount of metallics without verging on tacky and paired with the right jeans and blazer, haute damn!

One of my favourite smells has to be lemongrass. It relaxes me and makes me think of all those awesome massages I had in Thailand. Now I have lemongrass candles, room spray and some of that burny oil shizz but that hasn't stopped me from wanting this lemongrass and juniper berry skin body butter from Body Thrills. The best bit? They're having a special where you get 30% off for a limited time. So hurry and click click click!

With winter around the corner, there's always a need to layer and bulk up. Unless of course you're me. Don't get me wrong I love a good coat but living in Cape Town I don't always feel the need for it. Five minutes on and I'm sweating and cannot wait to get it off. But give me a jacket and I'm ready to go. I've always been weary of leather jackets, afraid I'll end up looking like I was an extra in The Matrix but then I saw this beauty from Lipsy. Hello lover!

Ah animal print. I'm so scared of trying it out. Probably because I've seen visions of older women in only animal print and it worries me I'll also start looking like a 40-something divorcee with bad roots and ciggie-stained teeth. So I'm trying to incorporate it slowly into my wardrobe. Like recently I bought a leopard print scarf which hasn't made it out of the bag yet and I might even venture out to get a cute pair of pumps. But what I really want and have no idea if I could pull off are these booties from Asos.

Fashion Fairy Godmother, if you're out there, please help.

Beauty Blog Love

I know I’m not the only one out there like this. You love beauty products but you’re anxious to try something new out without some solid backing. Or perhaps the costs of some these miracle creams make your eyes go wide and you’re hesitant to drop those gs. If you had the means and the ability to throw caution to the wind, you’d be a beauty product whore. But really you’re just a tease.

If you’re like that at all or if you just enjoy doing a little bit of beauty reading, I’ve found a solution. Below are three blogs which all specialise in beauty reviews, launches and trends. Basically these girls are the full-on sluts and allow use to indulge our fetishes from the sidelines.

Style Scoop – Okay I’m a little biased because I write for them but when it comes to beauty reviews Dimi is the business. Honest, easy-to-read reviews like hearing them from a bestie.

Lipgloss Is My Life – the funniest beauty blog I’ve come across. There are also some great fashion posts.

Lipgloss Kisses – a newish find but love the reviews and has opened my eyes to a world of new products.

Enjoy!

My Christmas Wishlist Part Three

My Christmas Wishlist – It’s like Oprah’s Favourite Things. Except there are no freebies under your seat, no screaming middle-age women and no one shouting “You get a car! You get a car!”

As I've mentioned several times I am a beauty product slore. There's just something about bathing in nice-smelling things and then drenching your skin in body butter. I've yet to meet boys who enjoy this as much as I do so I'm guessing it's a girl thing.

The best part for me has to be the smell of a product. Vanilla reminds me of happy times; fruits and cocoa butter are the stuff summers are made of; and the festive season is all about cranberry. I recently wrote about a range I was lucky enough to try out here and now I've had a little look over the rest of their products.

Oh Santa Baby, won't you please put this Cupcake Frosting Body Butter into my stocking. It will make me smell nice and I'm sure once I do, boys will like me.

Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me

As any Skinny Bitch in the making knows, if you want to be on top-of-the-world fabulous you have to cover all aspects of your life. So while I’m still searching for the perfect job (Bill Gates, adopt me I’d be the perfect trust fund child) and I’m waiting for Bradley Cooper to get his shit together and propose I work on the other stuff.

At the moment, I’m busy working on the skinny part of the skinny bitch I hope to become. The bitch part has come along nicely ;) Obviously banning carbs from my diet and increasing my gym visits from none to a few a week has done some good. Now I am not one of those girls that skimps on beauty products and procedures. I visit spas, I dry loofah before I shower and I even bought paraffin wax for home pedicures.

Now when it comes to products I remain loyal to the ones that work and smell nice but that doesn’t mean I’m not above using other products. While I’m too afraid to go out to a bar by myself or try scuba diving I can be crazy adventurous with my beauty products. I’m like the Tiger Woods in that respect; I got the ones that I love at home but I’m always on the lookout for new ones on the side.

So when a little bird told me about a ‘little’ site that boasted fab new body products that smelt nice and are natural and all that jazz, I immediately requested some samples. Body Thrills is a collection of handmade, natural products that are designed to make you feel all wholesome and fabulous. Founded by Tamaryn Watkins, the site has gone from a blog to a nifty ecommerce site with user-friendly features and online shopping facilities.

I was lucky enough to try out a few of the products. This is me trying not to eat the Lemon Nougat and Honey Coconut Body Polish. This BP is a fab granular exfoliator that isn’t too harsh on the skin and smells like baked goods. I don’t think I need to say more.

This is me having a moment with the Lemongrass and Juniper Berry body butter. There is something about lemongrass, I just can’t get enough.

And finally, this is me pondering whether I should bathe in the Pina Colado Body Polish or pop it into a cocktail glass with some ice.

If you’re looking for the some great body treats, head on over to Body Thrills; they have a wide range of products (for men and preggos too) and even have some great specials just in time for Christmas.

Dear Future Boyfriend

Dear Future Boyfriend

As someone who is happily single I have found myself surprisingly warming up to the idea of having a significant other. I hear a lot of good things from friends and work colleagues and then there’s the pop culture influence that always weighs heavy on me. Who wouldn’t want a guy like Jim from The Office and Bruno Mars would catch a frikkin’ grenade for you. Hello, these are clearly eligible boys.

But before I actually commit to anything serious or even begin to think about sharing my life, my thoughts, my food I want the lucky (?) guy out there to be perfect. Now it’s a lot to ask but hopefully if this is my one true love they’ll understand. So Future Boyfriend, wherever you are, please adhere to the following guidelines:

*I like attention so if you have a guitar and/or a piano, please sing to me. I’d prefer in the privacy of my own home but elaborate scenes like the one in 10 Things I Hate About You could also work. If you are looking for a good song choice, Elvis Costello does one with my name in it otherwise something rocking like You Shook Me All Night Long would be totally hot. If you’re looking for songs to avoid anything by Eric Clapton because some of his songs are about another man’s wife and John Mayer ‘cause he makes sex faces when he sings them.

*If we go out for nachos and I’ve told you to order your own plate because I have a deep relationship with food, do it. If you don’t and eat off my plate I will go diva. Think about how much you like your kneecaps and how sad it will be if you guys had to part. Seriously, this relationship I have with food is for reals.

*I don’t plan on kissing you near your ears. So I won’t mind if you don’t reciprocate. This is an issue that stems from when I worked at a beauty spa and saw someone having their ears candled. It’s not a pretty process and the amount of wax that is in your ear freaks me out. So let’s avoid that area.

*Pet names can rock. I love when people call me princess, miss thang or even just skinny. You and I will need to work on our pet names. Babe is too overused and lovey gives me the chills. It would be nice to have a secret one only we’d get but with that comes the elaborate story we’d have to tell our friends and then it ruins that whole exclusivity vibe. So to make it easier on you (‘cause so far I haven’t) I’ll settle for My Girl or My Lady or even My Hot Sexy Bitch but with that last one the first two parts are uber important.

If this hasn’t scared you off Future Boyfriend, then I’ll know you’re the one.

Things That I ♥

Buying New Products

I went to the shops the other day to get my basic toiletries. I came back with a whole lot more. I love buying and opening new products. The pretty packaging, the new smells, it's all so fabulous. And they just make you feel like a goddess afterwards. I even went a little crazy and bought some paraffin wax for a home pedicure. If you've ever had a pedi with paraffin wax, you'll understand why. The Social Butterfly forsees a huge mess in the future and on my carpet but I plan to prove him wrong and make my jealous with my home job.

Full Fat Coke

I have tried in vain to switch to Coke Light but it's just not working for me. Considering I always have sweetner instead of sugar and drink sugar-free juice, I'm going to let this one go. Obviously I'm not going to go over abroad and undo all the dieting I've done. But every now and again I'm totally going to have a regular coke. The small can of course.

Bad Romance

There is no way I am getting over this song. And I've played it a gazillion times. That normally does the trick for me. This time, I hear the song and all of a sudden I'm performing the choreography from the music video and doing the "Rah-Rah..." part. Major snaps for Gaga!
