In celebration of...
It's not often I can say this, but Kelly Clarkson was absolutely fantastic. We (Green Eyes, myself and the gays) headed to the Kelly Clarkson concert at Grandwest and we were not disappointed. She actually sounds better live than what she does on her albums. My only complaint about the concert, well 2 complaints is:
1. I wish us Skinny Bitches could have dressed her and done her make-up and hair. She wasn't wearing the most flattering of clothes and that hair....argg a nightmare. But we forgive her, she has been touring for a while so maybe she's just out of practise.
2. We would kick out all the unappreciative 'whipped boyfriends' who attended. They all just stood there. What a waste of space.
Otherwise, she was super good, so I've attached her music videa below. I was looking for Long Shot, but couldn't find it, so here's My Life Would Suck Without You instead. I recommend turning up the volume and singing out loud. Makes me feel better - even when i'm still at work.
Enjoy

Monday's Mantra

This week we're going to see Kelly Clarkson.
I believe chocolate will be the undoing of all my weight loss.
I’m addicted to House Season 3 – so exciting.
I wish my hair wasn’t doing its own thing.
I’m jealous of people who still have cash left in their bank accounts…what’s up with that?
Soundtrack/Mantra for the week Since You’ve been gone…(we’re really excited for the concert!)

Things I've Realised...

I just need to hear the theme song from Flashdance and all I want to do is dance.
I really like being single but, I wouldn’t mind someone telling me I’m pretty every now and again and holding my hand at the movies.
Jennifer Aniston chooses the wrong movies.
Sometimes all you need is a little faith.
Drinking in the afternoon is awesome.
I’m going to start taking more risks.
Even though I struggle to get up in the morning, I am really starting to like gym.
I miss my number one gay best friend. Come to Cape Town please!
Whenever I’m feeling sad, fat, fugly and as if I have no direction, the opening scene of The Devil Wears Prada perks me right up. I’m so gonna be one of those women when I grow up.
I never want to hear the phrase “I have a large phallus.” It was overheard in the kitchen, repeated to me and now I am disturbed.
Popcorn with salt ‘n’ vinegar flavouring: delish. Inhaling salt ‘n’ vinegar flavoring by mistake: not as delish. In fact kinda painful.
Happy Thursday!

Weekend Highlights
Friday…it was my younger brother’s birthday so we all went out for din dins at Royale. Had the most amazing burger with pepperdews and mustard sauce. And of course, the sweet potato chips. They are reason enough to go there.
Saturday…Skinny Bitches got treated to brekkie by the older brother at Viola! at Cape Quarter. Had a fabulous omelette, a skinny latte and then did some walking around. It was also Pride so we watched the floats and cheered the gays on! A little later we went to the spa. Blue Eyes was lucky enough to get a hot stone massage. I was not as lucky as my appointment was for a bit of waxing. A quick cocktail at Primi – drinking in the afternoon is soooo much fun - and then we had to get ready for Decodance. We had an awesome time dancing to the 80s and 90s. And there are lots of nice boys too. Definitely going to be one of our regular haunts. Also discovered Bohemian Rhapsody is one of the few songs everyone knows the words too…Mama I just killed a man.
Sunday…aka the hottest day ever. We were invited to a friend’s birthday party which consisted of pizza, drinks, ice-cream and a pool. In 38 degree heat, I don’t think I need to go on.
What was your weekend like?

Monday's Mantra

This week is all about surviving the heat.
I believe the soccer World Cup will be GREAT.
I'm addicted to frozen cocktails. Mmmm, daiquiris.
I wish I had an internal cooling system that wasn't sweat.
I'm jealous I'm not poolside.
Soundtrack/Mantra for the week Ice, Ice, Baby.

Skinny Bitches Progress Report
Fabulous Apartment: CHECK
We absolutely love living in town, especially as we're just off Kloof and we all know Kloof is where it's at. We have many friends telling us that Sea Point is the new hub or that a stylish new modern apartment is the way to go, we completely disagree. Where else can you walk to your favourite restraurants and shops and have the amount of room space we have. Plus in this extreme heat, we're very lucky that our apartment is really cool. Plus the daily entertainment we get from our neighbours makes it worth it, who'd needs Reality TV.
Boys: TBC
We're super amped up fro the World Cup. Not only because the atmosphere and party seen will be amazing, but becuase the foreign boys will soon be gracing our shores. Us Skinny Bitches have personally taken it upon ourselves to be the Cape Town Welcoming Commitee. SP yo may catch glimpses of us at the airport, Dubliner, Waterfront and generally walking up and down Long & Kloof street. We've got our World Map and language guides ready in hand. VIVA CAPE TOWN 2010
Zero-Waists: CHECK
Green Eyes is still hitting the gym and I'm pleasantly watching her leave the apartment to go to the gym. Except for a dodgy tan and some 'maintainance' issues, we're happy with the progress we're making on our size zero-waists (and all that it entails)
High Heels: CHECK
Althought the funds are low, did you know it was actually possible for your salary to decrease? It's called medical aid and inflation. However, clothign and fashion are still important to us and so we sacrifice eating nice food for having new clothes and shoes. I recently hit one of those 'everything for R90' sles at the Riverclub and scored big time. Heads-up, if you don't get there earlety (7am) then don't even bother. It was definately worth it and now I am pleasantly satisfied with my wardrobe additions.
Plans: CHECK
I've added Plans to the checklist. It's good to have plans so you have some things to look forward to. So upcoming plans for us are a Kelly Clarkson concert, Friends birthdays, Girls weekend away in April, trip overseas, World Cup 2010 (yes, it's a plan) and many more to follow.
P.S. we've just discovered Deco-Dane (yes a little late), but absoultely love the place, definately more trips there.
Careers: can we just leave this blank for now and pretend it never came up :)

Mid-Week Highlights
I finished reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. It started off very slowly and then all of a sudden I was staying up late to finish it. It was totally gripping but also had a dark plot twist that I never saw coming. Wonder how Stieg Larsson thought of that. If you haven’t read it, I don’t want to ruin it. But I would recommend it, if you’re not too sensitive. It’s not graphic but it’s a bit hectic.
I’ve started planning my winter wardrobe. I’m thinking ladylike chic with an edge. I’m planning greys, blues and purples and lots of accessories like gloves, scarves, hats, and ear muffs. Also plan on getting some awesome head pieces from Mungo and Jemima.
After months of ignoring my account, I finally (re)joined Twitter. It was a bit daunting at first ‘cause I didn’t get what RT meant or how to follow people. So after a tutorial by my lovely co-worker I am now tweeting in heels. Seriously that’s my name! You can go here to follow me. Must still get a new profile and shizz but right now am just enjoying tweeting.
I’m getting super excited for the World Cup. It’s 99 days away. I’ll be going to two games so far both with lots of talent on the pitch. But the most important thing is that Blue Eyes and I will be planning our own personal welcoming committee. Mostly for all the hot foreign boys ;)
Tonight we’re going to watch Valentine’s Day. I’ve heard it’s a shameful American rip-off of Love Actually. I’ve also heard it’s really funny. All I’m saying is, McSteamy, Bradley Cooper and Jakob from Twilight in the same movie…yes please!
Hope your week is awesome!
