Brand ID Lingerie Launch

Yesterday I attended the Brand Identity Media launch. Brand ID is the company responsible for bringing After Eden, Maidenform and Elle Macpherson Intimates to SA. So I think we owe them a lot ;)

I got to mingle with some fabulous other bloggers and writers including Rebecca from All4Women, FashionJazz, SA Fashion Girl, Kathryn from Becoming You and Leozette Roode.

We were talked through the ranges from the companies and got to learn a lot about which styles, brands and even colours work for the SA market. The new ranges are all very fabulous and it's nice to know that's a style that will suit everyone's budget. When I meet Future Boyfriend and we have money I will be parading around in Elle Macpherson (I'll also have a slammin' body by that time - hence the parading in my knickers). For now I can buy After Eden and still look as seksi.

Here are some of the highlights:

Love this bra from EMI, especially the little frill detailing.

This is an example of my fave type of underwear. Sadly not an example of my fave price point. Luckily After Eden do a similar one. See below.
Almost the same as the Elle Macpherson one but cheaper :)

How cute are these little cut-outs. I want!

Thanks to everyone involved in the launch for the invite and especially for the fabulous gift below. Cannot wait to wear my new knickers!

Lay It On Me

Every now and again there is a call to get out of bed way earlier than expected, look decent and go somewhere. As someone who values their sleep I normally ignore this call and only stumble out of bed a few minutes before work starts looking like one of the witches in Stardust before the youth elixir takes effect.

Last week however there was a call to stop hitting the snooze button and get my gladrags on. I was invited to the Layer’d event by Press Room.

Layer’d is a fabulous boutique store in Green Point that showcases international fashion. Now normally you’d expect a shop like this to be similar to the one in Pretty Woman. You know, great clothes but scary Dementor-like saleswomen who make you feel like you don’t deserve to be in the store.

Layer’d is nothing like this. The entire shopping experience is warm and welcoming from the simplistic yet stylish interior to the friendly staff to the flattering mirrors; you feel like you’re going over to a bestie’s house to borrow her clothes instead of being scrutinized by a part-time matriculant shop assistant who cannot abide happiness.

And I’ve not even mentioned the clothes! The biggest draw for me was Sea Folly aka the church of swimwear. Look at the full wall below. I was in swimming costume heaven. So many colours and styles, it was hard not to get a bit klepto and try and shove some into my bag. Other fabulous brands include Boo Radley (which boasts miracle jeans that can make you look a size smaller – please sign me up!), Metalicus – great for flattering wardrobe basics, Capital M and Hammock & Vine.

Two labels which are exclusive to Layer’d are Wish and Sambag. Wish has some ah-mazing dresses which I was dying to try on but my credit card was like “You still have groceries to buy. You’ll look good but have no food”. Sambag another Australian label that focuses on among other things stylish, contempory handbags and shoes. You see that tan bag up there, that’s holding a place on my Christmas List.

If you find yourself in Greenpoint, make sure you pop into Layer’d, it’s right next to the Vida in Somerset Road. So get yourself a latte and browse. You won’t leave empty-handed. If you’re in the ‘burbs, they’ve also opened a store in Cavendish. And if you can’t get to any of those, there’s whisperings of an online store opening soon.

Glitz and Glam

Here's a confession about me. Well, not so much a confession since people normally find this out about me withing the first 5 minutes of being around me. I am not elegant. I am not fancy and I do not do well in these situations.

So you can imagine my horror when I'm expected to behave in such manners. I was invited to the re-opening of St Yves nightclub in Camps Bay. I have been there before and have found it to be a beautiful location, full of gorgeous people and enough white furniture for me to mess all over.

As I'm much more accustomed to bars that play 80s songs and have glass on the floor, I had to pull out the big guns for this event. I got my nails did, bought a sexy pencil skirt and changed the setting on my camera to black and white. As we all know, black and white = classy.

Here is what went down...

Aforementioned pencil skirt, glitter nails and my boob about to pop out.

Sue enjoying the view. You can't tell but it was nipples cold out there.
Sky Vodka ice sculpture and shot thingy.
Me after my first shot.

More proof why I should be allowed out.

This was taken right before a waitress told us to clear our table. For reals.

During the fashion show. Love this pic because it reminds me of the white walkers from Game of Thrones.
See above caption.
We saw a lot of girls posing like this. It seemed only right to do the same.

With my other girls Jazz and Leigh.

Thanks to Leozette from Red Concepts for the invite and more importantly the good times and free champers ;)

Summer In the City

Last week I was lucky enough to be invited, along with some other bloggers to the Summer in the City event.
The event was held at I ♥ My Laundry which I really do heart and organised by Stiletto J who I also ♥.

We started the event with some fabulous infused drinks courtesy of Jorgensen's Distillery.  The venue was decorated fabulously and courtesy of some of the sponsors including Europa Art shoes and Cocoa Fair

For snacks, we got to try some of I ♥ My Laundry's new food venture, the first museli bar in Cape Town. They'll be serving this daily from 07h00. And if like me, you love some muesli, get on down to 59 Buitengracht street. It was delish and not just your standard swiss stuff. There was even talks of a chocolate muesli. Hawt damn!

Then came the experts. After every talk, there were prizes from each brand and some that didn't have reps there. We got to hear from three fab ladies who are all in the business of making other ladies look even better. We got to hear about Bisousoleil, a sunless tan range. If you're looking a bit pasty, there's a fab comp to win a little something something over here.

Then we got to hear all about Medi Heel; a chemical-peel like treatment for feet. We were also told about the fabulous revitalizing leg and foot spray, which is said to give your pins some life and a bit of shimmer. Best part is, it has a bit of Dolce & Gabbana in it, so it smells like heaven. To enter the comp, visit here.

And finally we got to hear about cupping from Bellabaci. Now if you're like me, you know cupping as that gross thing that Gwyneth Paltrow did and it left her with those weird marks on her back. As I found out, cupping can be used to detox, reduce stretch marks, combat cellulite and firm the skin and help with digestive disorders. I was certainly told.

After all the competitions, which I sadly didn't win - I'm bitter, can you tell - we had a chance to chill, have some more drinks and I may have helped myself to more than one piece of chocolate.

At the end, we all left with a fabulous goodie bag, which I couldn't resist to open straight away. There was more chocolate in there, can you blame me.

Thanks again to Jeanne from Stiletto Adventures for inviting me and the fabulous Laundry Boys for putting on a good show.

Cafe Milano

For last week's coffee club, we headed to Cafe Milano in Kloof Street.

It's situated next to Manna Epicure and opposite Cafe Paradiso. They have a cute little balcony-type area where we wanted to sit but since Cape Town is a bit nipples-cold, we had to move inside.

The vibe inside is just as nice. There are loads of fancy jams and pre-packaged goodies like biscuits and preserves on one side. On the other is a little doorway to a enclosed cafe area, which would be nice if you wanted to avoid the hustle and bustle of the morning crowd.

We go there on the dot at 7 so they were still setting up the place and packing out the delicious baked goods they're most known for. But at 7h20, the place was full of early business breakfasts, residents getting their morning coffee (we even saw a lady in her slippers) and people on their way to work.

As we got there early, I didn't manage to get pictures of the packed fridges displaying all the delicious-looking pastries and treats. I can say that the coffee was sublime and that arrived really fast. For someone like me who considers 7am very early, this was a godsend.

So we'll have to be back to try out the rest but if you're in the mood for a delicious and quick coffee, this is the place to go.

Summer Lovin'

Last week I was invited to take part in a summer dress campaign for 36Boutiques by Robyn Cooke. If you do not know who she is, do not pass go, do not collect R200. Seriously, though, get a clue and take a walk over here.

I was asked to choose two dresses which I thought would be ideal for summer. I chose the two dresses below:

This is a 50s style dress from Morphe.

This bird print dress from Jo Borkett.

I was invited down to 36B HQ to take part in the shoot featuring other fabulous bloggers such as the girls from I Heart Your Outfit, Vicki from I Want That, Kamini from What The Strut and Thaya from Beatnik Bazaar.

We got to model both dresses after getting made-up by Nathaline Renaud and photographed by Anton Robert.

And here are the results:

Massive thanks to everyone at 36Boutiques, esp Robyn, and all those involved for making me look so awesome.

The campaign is now live on the site, you can check out me and all the other bloggers.
