In Another Life...

...I have no money troubles, my car doesn't bleed me dry, boys call me back and my red lipstick doesn't fade.

Sadly I live in the real world, where my savings are shot to shit. My car doesn't work more often than it does hence sayonara to all money. Boys never ever call me or message me because the ones I like dont always know I exist and I drink too may drinks and eat too much for my lipstick to even stand a chance.

But because I am a dreamer at heart, there are always things I want and fantasize about.

Miu Miu Glitter Sneakers

If I'm going to wear flats which I'm not particularly adverse to, they might as well sparkle. If I was ever so ballsy to ever purchase these, the glitter on them would be distracting enough since I won't be able to eat. For a couple of months.

Loin Cloth & Ashes Party Dress

I could name several place I could and would wear this dress to. I have even started pairing my heels with it in my head (I'm thinking nudes would be perfect). It's not that out of reach price wise but when you're watching your spend, things like pretty dresses go out the window.

Eric Northman

True Blood season six is a waste of my time. I know this. But I need to finish things so since I have invested all this other time I will finish this damn season. One reason to keep me watching is Eric. I actually loathe all other scenes especially the ones with Bill. Although he is a vampire and can kill me, he is beautiful. He is charming. He is a good businessman and can take care of me.There's always the chance he may kill me but we all need a bit of excitement in our lives.

Lay It On Me

Every now and again there is a call to get out of bed way earlier than expected, look decent and go somewhere. As someone who values their sleep I normally ignore this call and only stumble out of bed a few minutes before work starts looking like one of the witches in Stardust before the youth elixir takes effect.

Last week however there was a call to stop hitting the snooze button and get my gladrags on. I was invited to the Layer’d event by Press Room.

Layer’d is a fabulous boutique store in Green Point that showcases international fashion. Now normally you’d expect a shop like this to be similar to the one in Pretty Woman. You know, great clothes but scary Dementor-like saleswomen who make you feel like you don’t deserve to be in the store.

Layer’d is nothing like this. The entire shopping experience is warm and welcoming from the simplistic yet stylish interior to the friendly staff to the flattering mirrors; you feel like you’re going over to a bestie’s house to borrow her clothes instead of being scrutinized by a part-time matriculant shop assistant who cannot abide happiness.

And I’ve not even mentioned the clothes! The biggest draw for me was Sea Folly aka the church of swimwear. Look at the full wall below. I was in swimming costume heaven. So many colours and styles, it was hard not to get a bit klepto and try and shove some into my bag. Other fabulous brands include Boo Radley (which boasts miracle jeans that can make you look a size smaller – please sign me up!), Metalicus – great for flattering wardrobe basics, Capital M and Hammock & Vine.

Two labels which are exclusive to Layer’d are Wish and Sambag. Wish has some ah-mazing dresses which I was dying to try on but my credit card was like “You still have groceries to buy. You’ll look good but have no food”. Sambag another Australian label that focuses on among other things stylish, contempory handbags and shoes. You see that tan bag up there, that’s holding a place on my Christmas List.

If you find yourself in Greenpoint, make sure you pop into Layer’d, it’s right next to the Vida in Somerset Road. So get yourself a latte and browse. You won’t leave empty-handed. If you’re in the ‘burbs, they’ve also opened a store in Cavendish. And if you can’t get to any of those, there’s whisperings of an online store opening soon.

Summer In the City

Last week I was lucky enough to be invited, along with some other bloggers to the Summer in the City event.
The event was held at I ♥ My Laundry which I really do heart and organised by Stiletto J who I also ♥.

We started the event with some fabulous infused drinks courtesy of Jorgensen's Distillery.  The venue was decorated fabulously and courtesy of some of the sponsors including Europa Art shoes and Cocoa Fair

For snacks, we got to try some of I ♥ My Laundry's new food venture, the first museli bar in Cape Town. They'll be serving this daily from 07h00. And if like me, you love some muesli, get on down to 59 Buitengracht street. It was delish and not just your standard swiss stuff. There was even talks of a chocolate muesli. Hawt damn!

Then came the experts. After every talk, there were prizes from each brand and some that didn't have reps there. We got to hear from three fab ladies who are all in the business of making other ladies look even better. We got to hear about Bisousoleil, a sunless tan range. If you're looking a bit pasty, there's a fab comp to win a little something something over here.

Then we got to hear all about Medi Heel; a chemical-peel like treatment for feet. We were also told about the fabulous revitalizing leg and foot spray, which is said to give your pins some life and a bit of shimmer. Best part is, it has a bit of Dolce & Gabbana in it, so it smells like heaven. To enter the comp, visit here.

And finally we got to hear about cupping from Bellabaci. Now if you're like me, you know cupping as that gross thing that Gwyneth Paltrow did and it left her with those weird marks on her back. As I found out, cupping can be used to detox, reduce stretch marks, combat cellulite and firm the skin and help with digestive disorders. I was certainly told.

After all the competitions, which I sadly didn't win - I'm bitter, can you tell - we had a chance to chill, have some more drinks and I may have helped myself to more than one piece of chocolate.

At the end, we all left with a fabulous goodie bag, which I couldn't resist to open straight away. There was more chocolate in there, can you blame me.

Thanks again to Jeanne from Stiletto Adventures for inviting me and the fabulous Laundry Boys for putting on a good show.

Add Some Sparkle

You know when you spot something fabulous but not sure whether you should buy it? Sometimes because it's too expensive or if you're not sure you can pull off the look.

I have had that for the past several months. I was doing my weekly browse on 36Boutiques when I came across this pair of heels. Glitter, platform, fabulous. Some of my favourite words.

As far as price goes, they were not expensive. And they're from G Couture. I've got a pair of heels from them so I know they'd be comfy and durable. But I wasn't sure if I could really rock this heels the way they deserved.

And then the shoe gods smiled down upon me. 36B is celebrating their birthday. With a sale. Ding! Ding! Ding! Jackpot.

Ignore the glam surroundings.

I placed my order last Tuesday and then on Thursday they arrived. Happiness is! I spent last night breaking them in, an absolute must for new heels. And today I debuted them.

This pose is why I'll never make it as a fashion blogger.
 Oh so shiny and fabulous.

Ps. The 36Boutiques Birthday Sale is still on if you want to treat yourself. Or myself :)

And The Winner Is...

So I would like to thank all the fabulous peeps who took the time to enter the 36Boutiques competition. The answers were all fab and it took me a lot of deliberating to choose the winner.

It was so hard picking a winner that I decided to give away two pairs of heels. That's right, two of you will be strutting around in some new heels.

Walking away with the black pair is

@Reberoodle

Walking away with the nude pair is

@Tash_Annie

Well done! I'll be sending you a mail shortly with all the details.
Thanks to 36Boutiques for their awesome sponsorship.

How To Wear It with 36 Boutiques Part 3

In conjunction with this fabulous competition I’m running over here, I’ll be compiling themed ensembles with the help of 36Boutiques. These outfit collages are all designed to be worn with the pair of heels I’m giving away in said comp.

Ah
Date Night. When you have permission to act all giggly and cutesy without making the rest of the diners sick. If you are going to be indulging in some PDAs better do it in style. You do not want to be girl people talk about for the wrong reasons. "Oh you should have seen them making out. Hashtag Gross! And she was wearing this hideous excuse for an outfit. Tell me when did pleather come back in style?!"

Here's your fail-safe guide to an outfit. And the best part, they can be worn with either pair of shoes!

How To Wear It with 36 Boutiques Part 2

In conjunction with this fabulous competition I’m running over here, I’ll be compiling themed ensembles with the help of 36Boutiques. These outfit collages are all designed to be worn with the pair of heels I’m giving away in said comp.

Whether it’s sipping mojitos with the girls at a trendy bar, dancing the night away with your gays or murdering Making Love Out of Nothing At All at a dodgy karaoke bar, your style should not be overlooked. Now if you were one of those clever peeps who entered this competition, you could be strutting away in a pair of nude concealed platforms. And if you visit 36Boutiques and whip out your credit card, you could be dropping the style like this. Get up offa that thing and dance till you feel better!

How To Wear It with 36 Boutiques Part 1

In conjunction with this fabulous competition I’m running over here, I’ll be compiling themed ensembles with the help of 36Boutiques. These outfit collages are all designed to be worn with the pair of heels I’m giving away in said comp.

You see these heels? These beautiful platform courts in black? Well these babies are designed for many things. They’ll make you look taller, make your calves look shapely and they’ll make you feel like a gazillion dollars. But more importantly I firmly believe they were invented to bring this outfit together. Working 9 to 5 and trying to make a living isn’t easier. But with the perfect pair of shoes, a girl can do anything.

Let's Get Some Shoes!

Ladies (and lady boys, we don’t judge over here at Skinny Bitches HQ) if you’re reading this, you either thought it was another of my disastrous experience with men posts or me lamenting my love for food yet again or maybe something to do with shoes; because between those other two subjects that’s what I’m all about. And you’d be right!

I’m very excited to announce the start of a competition with 36Boutiques. 36 what? Oh you don’t know about the oh-so-fabulous online shopping destination that offers you local and international fashion with FREE delivery and returns. Well then get on down there and educate yourself. And while you’re there, bookmark it. Because you’ll need it to enter this competition.

I have one pair of fabulous platform heels from Sissy Boy to give away courtesy of 36Boutiques. That’s right, you could be the proud of owner of these fabulous court platforms in black because every girl needs a versatile black heel *or* you can bring out your inner Kate Middleton with these nude platform heels. And they could be yours in three easy steps.

1. Choose which heel you’d like to live it up in.
2. Visit 36Boutiques and find the perfect outfit to wear with those shoes. Side-step: have a browse because there’s a great 20% off deal until the 26th of March.
3. Leave me a comment with your answer (and an email addy or blog link or Twitter handle). The more creative and stylish, the better your chance of winning.

The competition will run until Friday the 23rd of March. So if you have found yourself on the site constantly and have come up with more ensembles, then feel free to enter again. Sadly only those that reside in the beautiful Republic of SA can enter. I’ll announce the winner on Monday 26 March.

Good luck bitches!

All Is Right In The World

I went shopping. I bought cute new knickers, some jewellery, dresses at Cotton On and these shoes.

I've totally forgotten about stupid boys. And incurred some credit card debt.

My Christmas Wishlist Part Two

My Christmas Wishlist – It’s like Oprah’s Favourite Things. Except there are no freebies under your seat, no screaming middle-age women and no one shouting “You get a car! You get a car!”

Zando is a new online shopping portal launching in February 2012. Until then, they've been teasing us with shoe porn. There are a whole lot of pretty shoes in their photo gallery but for some reason I cannot stop lusting after this pair.

I used to have a big aversion to animal print. That was until I learnt in small doses it can be sexy and spice up an outfit. These shoes are just the right amount and have a bold heel. You know those will be perfect for dancing.

So Santa, if you're listening I haven't been all that good but I promise to do better next year.

Happy Shopping!

What To Do...

...when all you can think about is your holiday but you have a blog to maintain?

At the moment I'm deliriously happy and excited that in 5 days I'll be leaving on a jet plant for two weeks of beaches, boys and buckets full of cocktails. Unfortunately all that happiness does not lead to many entertaining blog posts. After all there's only so much your readers can handle before they think you're a smug bitch.

So since I'm facing a bit of blogger's block, I decided to write or rather copy and insert other things that make me happy.

It's one of my fashion bucket list items to own a pair of red sparkly shoes. Like DoLinkrothy but sexier.

On a diet, although successful, and all I can think about is cupcakes. Praying they have amazing ones in Phuket so I can binge.

Christmas AKA the *best* time of the year. I think this year's going to be a goodie.

Ever since I saw Jasna rock this dress, it's all I can think about.

Spickernell Shoe Launch

So here's the situation...this week I was feeling way more sorry for myself than usual. Instead of the normal Why Can't I Be A Trust Fund Baby or My Thighs Are So Big They Deserve Their Own Traffic Lane whine I was sick, I couldn't gorge myself on junk foods because of my diet and I looked terrible.

Luckily there was light at the end of the tunnel. I was invited to the Spickernell shoe launch. So armed with a fashion buddy and a clutch bag filled with tissues I headed off to the James Mudge Studio in Gardens.

And all I can say is wow! Think elegant and timeless pieces that are still modern and stylish and utterly feminine and you're about halfway there. If I wasn't about to exchange all my moolah for Thai baht I'd be one of the dozens of peeps putting down a deposit for next season's order.

The lady behind these beauties is Sarah Spickernell who used to do all types of fashion stuff in London before strutting her stuff at Edgars and Marion and Linde. Now after spending some time in Spain learning all about the leather industry, she's putting those skills to use in her new collection.

And now for my latest girl crush, I present the Kate ankle bootie in black. And in case you're wondering, that porcelain skin is not the result of a strict celeb-like diet but rather the effects of sinusitis.

Ex-Oh! Ex-Oh!

Grrrrr

I'm not that big an animal print fan nor do I have any money to spend (a combination of upcoming holiday and having no cash sense) yet I keep logging on to 36 Boutiques to torture myself with these fabulous heels. And they're on sale!

Sugar Daddy, Fairy Godmother, Santa, Karma, anyone? Now is the time to act!

Haute Damn

There's whole lot of crazy happening in some parts of the country; a hurricane is threatening another country and my thighs seem to be increasing at an alarming rate.

Luckily, there is some solace from all of the cray cray. Shoes! When the hard things in life get you down, it's nice to know there's always the pretty things to keep you going.

I was lucky enough to be sent a sneak preview of the Bronx Ladies summer range and it's enough to forget all your problems.

Enjoy!
