An open letter to Green Eyes

You'll often find on our blog that Green Eyes writes open letters. I thought it would be nice to write an open letter to her and in the process letting you have sneak peak in to the daily, and not so private lives, of the Skinny Bitches. Here we go...

Dear Green Eyes

Foremost, you are the best roomate anyone could ever ask for.

Thank you for all those times when I've had a shitty day and you've done everything you could to make me feel better. Whether it be giving me a hug, making me tea, or having supper ready to eat. Even those times when you've told me 'I''d do you if I was a lesbian' or those times you broke your healthy eating plan just so I wouldn't feel lonely eating a whole chocolate bar by myself. Those times when you sat on my bed late at night listening to me bitch and moan about work even though you were secretly screaming 'shut the hell up so I can go to bed'...Thank You

Sorry for sometimes being a complete bitch just because I had no one else to take it out on and sorry for playing Avri Lavigne in our lounge... I didn't mean to make you think I was angry..I just love her. Sorry for leaving dishes in the sink only to come home and find you've washed up after me and sorry for hassling you about bringing my cat to the flat...I understand I'm skating on thin ice. Sorry for making you watch trashy American teeny-pop movies, you hate them, but yet you watch them with me anyway. Sorry for telling people you cannot cook, that is clearly a lie as I have work colleagues who would sell their souls for your secret mash... I'm sorry

I could go on and on, but in a nutshell, those 'times' have meant the world to me, so Thank You and I'm Sorry.

Love you long time, your roomie for life (well until we find hottie husbands)

Blue Eyes

Monday's Mantra

This week I'll mostly be on shoot.
I believe boys are bigger drama queens.
I'm addicted to being in a tipsy state of mine. I'm more fun that way.
I wish it was payday.
It's sucky that chocolate contains calories

Things I'm not that embarassed about, but perhaps should be

1. Listening to Celine Dion 3:00 on a Saturday afternoon, even while your roomate is giving you weird looks

2. It takes 1 Cosmopolitan to get you tipsy

3. Going to bed at 9:30pm is like heaven

4. Walking to the shops to get groceries without even putting on a bra

5. Hating FIFA for bringing the World Cup to SA and then selfishly taking it away after 1 month...where have all the foreign men gone?

6. Writing to do lists of things you have already completed just so you can scratch them out and feel you have accomplished something

7. Wearing shoes out when you know they need to be re-heeled and they make that clippity-cloppity noise

8. Painting over your chipped nails instead of re-painting them just because you can't be bothered

9. Wearing long pants for a full week straight because again, you can't be bothered to shave your legs

10. Watching 4 episodes of House when you should be seen out and about in Kloof street

11. Thinking your roomates dream about raccoons is a direct result of the fact that she wont let you bring the family cat to come and live with the two of you

12. Secretly hoping someone will steal your broken-down excuse for a car so you can by a new one with the insurance money

13. Letting your eyes roll back in to your head as you munch away at a Cadbury's mint crisp tart chocolate bar

14. Believing that Ryan Reynolds is secretly miserable without you

For the Love of Shoes

As everyone knows, you cannot be a Skinny Bitch without some fancy footwear. Manolos, Choos and Louboutins will all be part and parcel of the lifestyle once you can say “I’ve made it”.

Unfortunately as we are only Skinny Bitches in the making we’ve had to downgrade our shoe dreams. While we will not compromise on style, we do love shoe brands that agree with our current bank balances.

Right now, the brand that combines both fabulosity and fits into our budgets are Bronx Ladies. A brand which has completely revamped its image from what I remember from my younger days. The new styles could easily be mistaken for the high end stuff yet the prices remind you it’s a real person’s brand.

I recently opened up my inbox to find their latest summer range has landed and it’s definitely something to look forward to.

Below are my personal favourites from the range. If you’re like me and heart the below, then you can head on over to their website or call Jordan Footwear on 021 590 7000 for your nearest stockist.

I’ve got my eye on a pair of the Hero heels. I can already see myself rocking them with kaftan dress. I’m thinking something gold or neutral. I just love this shrimp colour and think the shoes are ultra sexy.

These shoes are so freakin’ hawt. But have to be honest not something I think a short girl like myself could pull off. I may have to convince the roomie to rock them. Can you imagine these with a white shirt and some leggings. I’m thinking dramatic makeup and messy hair and tada! Sexiness!

Ah, the good ol’ wedge. For someone who wears heels every day, wedges are the perfect antidote for a day off when I still need some height. And they look great with summer dresses. I have the perfect maxi dress for these shoes.

For those who prefer some flats, there are days when even I do, have a look at this beauty.

These snakeskin heels are totally going to be my go-to work shoes. You could pull off a LBD or even just a pair of skinnies with these heels and they'll still look super chip. Yes please!

Any favourites?

Happiness is...

…looking at your bank balance and realizing you’re not overdrawn.

…the thought of the 30 Rock seasons 1 &2 boxsets waiting for you at home.

…spending a whole weekend relaxing with your gays and roomie.

…finding new fonts and designs to redo your blog.

…being treated to a latte by your boss.

…receiving a Marilyn Monroe canvas from your brother for no reason.

…listening to old CDs that takes you back to the first time you went to a club, had a cocktail or had a really good kiss.

…Glee!

…chicken prego rolls at lunch with your office besties.

…lying in bed with a steaming cup of milo and a good book.

…looking at Henry Cavill.

Cape Town Fan Walk

Skinny Bitches did the fan walk last night for the Holland and Uruguay semi-final.

The place was packed. It seems everyone and their orange-clad family were in the city yesterday. We didn't walk all the way to the stadium, the crowds were a little too hectic for that. But I did find this awesome picture of the stadium walk on Twitter.

We're gonna be really sad when the World Cup's over but we've had some awesome times.

Classic Movie, Classic Quote

"I'm sexy, I'm cute, I'm popular to boot.
I'm bitching, great hair, the boys all love to stare.
I'm wanted, I'm hot, I'm everything you're not.
I'm pretty, I'm cool, I dominate this school.
Who am I? Just guess, guys wanna touch my chest.
I'm rocking, I smile and many think I'm vile.
I'm flying, I jump.
You can look but don't you hump.
I'm major, I roar, I swear I'm not a whore.
We cheer and we lead. We act like we're on speed.
Hate us 'cause we're beautiful, well we don't like you either.
We're cheerleaders.
We are cheerleaders.
Roll call..."

Pity Party for One

So lately I have been in a very weird, feeling-sorry-for-myself mood.

However as I am naturally a happy person I refuse to let the ennui take hold of me. Instead I've come up with a list of things that have made me happy lately and plan on repeating them.

Please send through some suggestions and also please have a go at one of the below. You'd be surprised at how much better you'll feel.

There’s nothing better than…

…dancing to old boyband music with your roommate.

…having a hot chocolate from Vida when you’re feeling fugly. (ladies, if you buy the new Cosmo you can get a free hot chocolate coupon).

…watching House in your pajamas with a bowl of prawn chips.

…having a cocktail in the sun.

…playing Alicia Key’s “No One” really loud and singing along in the car.

What I'm Lusting After

This time it's not a boy or chocolate.

This time it's a pair of sunnies from the new MDG range. That's Madonna for Dolce & Gabbana.

Aren't they fabulous!

If you wanna know more about the MDG range, you can read my latest Style Scoop post here. Otherwise head on over to Sunglass Hut as they will be stocking them soon.
