My Life in Gifs Part Huit

What I did over my holidays

Which is why my wallet and clothes are now like this

So I decided to take control of my life

Then I turned 27. I woke up on my birthday and felt like I hadn’t achieved a thing

And this is how I tried to forget about it

But now that I’m old, this is how I felt the next morning

And the entire day

 And the day after

That is right, it now takes me two days to get over a hungover. Happy 2014 bitches!

Online Love

So...as usual I have a problem with money. This time it's for something very exciting. Not as exciting as my Thailand holiday last year but still it could lead to amazing opportunities and a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I want to say more but am afraid I'll jinx it. Seriously. You can make fun if you want.

Luckily my moolah worries never stop me from window shopping. And thanks to online shops, I never have to actually visit a mall to browse. These are the gems I've found online and am dying to buy. But! I must be strong!

First up is this frilly little bikini from 36Boutiques. Love this colour. Hope that if I do get it then it'll be the same in real-life. One problem with online shopping, sometimes the pictures distort the colour. I love the top half of the the bikini the mist. In a dream world, the bottoms would be those 50s style kind that cover your belly and love handles. But until then...

There's a new online shop called Utique. It's got all these lovely decor things that make me hate the fact I rent instead of own. I wish my lease allowed me to wallpaper. I have a feeling my flat's wall would be off the chain! In the meantime I'll settle for little bits of pretty to decorate the flat in. Like these LOVE coasters. Truthfully I don't make peeps use coasters but I may make them use these. Actually that's a lie, these are for display purposes only.

My birthday is in January. Christmas is before that. And before that I can start celebrating Halloween. So if you're looking for a present for me, head on over to Hello Pretty and buy these mugs. You rock!

Eeeeekkkk...

I've just turned 25.

The bad bits:
It's freakin' me out. Suddenly it dawned on me that in another five years I'll be 30.
According to Facebook, I in the minority when it comes to husbands and babies.
It feels like I haven't done anything substantial with my life.
I'm so old.

The good bits:
I've had a fabulous day so far and it's only lunchtime.
I've been spoilt rotten by family, friends and my work peeps.
The year is just begun and I can feel it's going to be a good one.

This Week I...

...tried karaoke.

This new thing has been a long time coming. Firstly I love to sing and dance. The only problem is I'm not very good at it. The singing part, on the dancing front, I am a genius ;)

I think my fear of singing in front of people started when I played SingStar and the stupid avatar told me I was tone deaf. Therefore it was more out of consideration for others that I didn't sing out loud rather than I was afraid.

This year for Blue Eyes' birthday she decided to do some karaoke. It was the perfect time to try singing in public. So aimed with some of my best friends, a whole lot of pre-drinks and a rested voice we ventured out to find a karaoke bar.

The problem with finding a good (read classy) karaoke bar that's available on a specific night is tricky. So if you're willing to forgo a few things and get drunk, any bar becomes a good one.

The night started off with Blue Eyes' rendition of Kiss by Prince. Myself and my brother were next. I thought working with someone would diminish the shame and pain of peoples ears bleeding. After a roaring version of Thong Song though, I was a karaoke addict.

Other great highlights included my solo of We Belong by Pat Benetar, a crowd pleaser of Gay Bar with Samma Designs, friends doing a Rammestein song that was not in english and the Glee fans singing Don't Stop Believin'.

It was a fabulous night followed by some serious headaches the next morning.

End of the Week Notes

*My new favourite show is Modern Family. It’s the perfect fill-in while I wait for the new seasons of 30 Rock and Glee. My favourite characters are Cam and Manny.

*Starting the day with a bacon and cheese crossiant from Jardine Bakery is awesome. My brother and I headed over for an early breakfast. They also serve Deluxe coffee which I love so it was a double score.

*It’s Blue Eyes’ birthday today. Happy Birthday to an awesome roomie and friend!

*This picture from The Sartorialist makes me want to buy lots of dresses and count down the days to summer.

*Peanut butter on toast is the bomb diggidy and my new favourite snack.

*Have found the motivation for gym. Stop going for four months and discover that you’ve gone from an hourglass figure to a blob. Then look at yourself in the mirror. Result? I’ve been to gym all week.

*Alphabeat is the happiest music you’ll ever hear. It’s even happier than ABBA.

Have a fabulous weekend bitches!

Weekend Highlights

The weekend started off on a fabulous note on Friday. It was one of our very special friend’s birthday and we joined her at Tiki Bar at Eden on the Bay for some cocktails.
Had some amazing cosmopolitans at that place. Nice casual vibe and right on the beach. Definitely would recommend. The lighting and light rain also gave it a nice touch!

On Saturday, I decided it was time to finally try out TRUTH in Green Point. I have heard so many fabulous things about the place and decided had to see what all the hype was about. TRUTH is located in the Prestwich Memorial off Somerset Road in Green Point. It’s not too big but has all the essentials for an awesome coffee shop. I had some great service, an excellent latte and a new spot to take friends too.

Afterwards I made a quick stop at the Friends with Jenny Open Day. I bought a great brown waist belt and a fab winter shrug. I cannot even tell you about it the shrug, it is so beautiful and versatile. Will definitely have to take pics and show you what it looks like and how it can be worn. Also don’t forget to check out FWJ’s new website. It’s great!

I’m not sure what came over me but on Sunday I offered to make lunch for my (large) family. I blame it on Julie & Julia. It made me think I could bring out my inner Nigella and cook. The main problem is my mom. She used to be a caterer, she can cook backwards and usually she prepares those amazing meals for Sunday lunch. My speciality is potato bake and those convenience meals from Woolworths.

In the end I opted for some chicken – ‘cause no one can mess up chicken – and then some pasta (a sweet potato and butternut lasagna). The pasta turned out really good, or my family are really nice at not hurting my feelings. Dessert was supplied by my mom because there was only so much I could accomplish. She made some great cupcakes and it’s even greater that she left the rest with me!

So, how was your weekend?

Weekend News

On Friday the girls and gays went to see The September Issue. I think I love Anna Wintour even more. No matter if you’re interested in fashion or even care about Vogue magazine, you need to see this movie.

On Saturday, it was my birthday! I got given a lovely present by my roomie and fellow skinny bitch and then we went out for breakfast. We also did a little window shopping and found some amazing dresses. Only problem is, we’re crazy broke and it was the hardest thing to put them back because we need to spend our money on food and petrol. Too bad those dresses can’t do that.

Later that day, the gays came over again and we had a getting ready party for that evening. We started the night at Boo Radleys with friends and families. I was totally spoilt. Not only by the great cosmos. Not too sweet and not too sour but perfect. And I got amazing gifts. It was awesome. So awesome in fact that I think I may have to celebrate it again in six months. Birthdays totally need anniversaries. After cocktails, we headed to the Dubliner where drinks were doubled, I hurt Blue Eyes when I tried to do the jumping lift from Dirty Dancing and almost slapped a girl who kept dancing in our area. “Bitch, that’s my song. I need to break it down.”

The next morning, however, was not so awesome. The last time I was that hung-over was the year before, also at my birthday. I did not feel good. It got so bad I had to go home to my parents house so my mom could look after me. In the end I had to sleep it off and later that evening when I eventually came to, I was ravenous. After 10 hours of sleep, I ate everything in my way. I’m back to feeling normal but am still pretty dehydrated so have attached a large water bottle to my side.

Hope everyone else’s weekend was just as fabulous.

Feel-Good Friday

Yeah it's Friday! This week felt soooo long so I'm really happy it's the weekend. Tonight the girls and gays are going to watch The September Issue. I'm tres excited.

And then tomorrow is my birthday. I'm going to be 23 so tres excited for that too! As you can tell I'm in one of those bubbly moods and not much can make me sad. In case you're not having one of those days, you need to watch this video. It's a little old and you may have seen it but it will most definitely give you the warm fuzzies and will make you want to have an office romance.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
