Things I've Realised...

...I ♥ Cape Town and am so lucky to live here. Not sure whether it's the weather, the beautiful people, the vibe in Long Street, the 80s partie, Charley's Bakery or sundowners at La Med. This is where I belong.

...No matter who it belongs to, ass crack is never a good look.

...Having a latte is great. Having the Vida guys send you a latte (with one sweetner already added) because you're such a good client is awesome and can change your day.

...That squeaky noise my car is making is not good.

...A little bit of holly and fairy lights make a flat feel very christmassy.

...I'm really lucky to have a flatmate who gets me. Whether it be my love for boyband music, the need to watch Love Actually over and over again or the fact that I don't have to share my bag of crisps because we both got our own is awesome.

...No matter what anyone tells you, if your job involves receiving gift bags at the end of it, its definitely glam.

Have a great day bitches!

Monday's Mantra

This week is going to be a long one.

I'm addicted to chic-lit.
I wish Santa would drop some extra moolah down the chimney this year.
I'm jealous of people with cash in their pockets.

Grumble, Grumble

Is it just me or does it seem like everyone has their perfect job and they just love boasting about it. I know they're not really boasting about it and even if they are, I shouldn't begrudge them.

If I had my perfect job you can bet my Twitter update would be all about me being a princess. FYI, my ideal job is really to become a princess. Realistically it's to be a journalist.

It's probably just the Monday blues or my coworkers annoying the hell out of me. Some people need a serious lesson on personal space. I have mine, you have yours, they should not meet. But it's been one of those down days. I couldn't even find the energy to comment on other blogs. And that is like one of the things I look forward to the most.

I'm no doctor but I am prescribing listening to the Hairspray soundtrack on my way home. No one stays mad whilst listening to You Can't Stop The Beat. Then I think a trip to Woolies is in order. I'm thinking prawn chips or one of those fat free milkshakes. Finally I'm going to put on my pajamas and watch Glee.

I'm already feeling better.

I'm Going To Tell You A Secret...

It's no secret I just heart PostSecret. And now I've found something even better, French PostSecret. Obviously I had to turn on the translations. What I found when I did though, was surprising.

Some of the secrets are heart wrenchingly sad whilst others made my grin ear to ear.

Here are some of my favourites....

I want to die because I no longer believe in love.

On the subway I told you "You are very pretty." I was serious. I think you're the most beautiful person in the world.

I don't know what to do with these feelings.

I loved you from the first day. I think I will you forever.

Next German PostSecret!

Things That I ♥ and Things That Bug Me - The Little Things Edition

Things That I ♥:

At the moment, nothing can beat a slice of crispy toast with a smooth layer of peanut butter and a latte for lunch. Munching on this while reading a Marian Keyes book is heaven. And a great way to relax when work is hard to handle.

Gossip Girl season three. Oh how I’ve missed Blair and Chuck. They really make the show. Serena’s okay but her outfits are a little slutty and she pulls this weird face when she’s trying to be all serious. And yeah for Hilary Duff! I totally loved Lizzie Maguire even though I was too old for it. But I couldn’t help it, the cartoon character was sooo cute. And I liked her platform sandals.

Christmas is around the corner. I am so excited to celebrate a Christmas in my own home. It’s definitely my favourite time of year. Everyone is happy and nice to each other. And I always get this warm, fuzzy feeling. I cannot wait to go shopping for the tree for the flat.

Finding the Cruel Intentions soundtrack when I thought I’d lost it. OMG, it is still as awesome as the first time I heard it.

Pringles…the salt ‘n’ vinegar flavour. Enough said.

Things That Bug Me

Grown-up mean girls. Seriously high school is over. Why do you have to say mean things to me to make you feel better. Can’t you just say it about a celebrity like the rest of us. You’re in your thirties so perhaps it’s time to grow up.

Not having the money to go shopping. An oldie but still a good one. I’m trying to save for Christmas presents so as a result, there are no new clothes or shoes this month.

My horoscope not making sense. Are good things on the way? I know it’s the person’s job to be cryptic but a little bit of a hint wouldn’t hurt.

Not having any more episodes of Glee. I need to know what happens next.

Creepy guys. Enough said.

Monday's Mantra

This week is all about having faith.
I believe a latte can improve a Monday.
I'm addicted to Gossip Girl Season 3.
I wish I could go shopping.
I'm jealous of anyone who gets to kiss Chuck Bass.
Soundtrack/Mantra for the Week Cos I gotta have faith, faith, faith!

An Open Letter...

I usually write these to people (famous and real) who either bug me like you wouldn't believe or those who make my heart all happy. This time, however, I feel I need to write one to myself.

I, like most other people, have a voice of reason inside my head. I, like most other people, chose to ignore it. This time I am listening...

The cheating on the diet needs to stop. You cannot go to gym and then reward yourself with a cheeseburger. We both know you didn't work out that long. Rather save the cheating for when you have just been paid and suddenly have so much money you want to waste it all on sweets. Or do it when someone at work is mean to you or you got cut off in traffic. Cos after those incidents who is going to begrudge you a chocolate or a packet of salt and vinegar crisps. If you work hard, it won't even be cheating, it'll be a reward.

The money thing. Yes, you're good that you always pay off your credit card, your rent and you put money aside for petrol. But all that left over money should be going into a savings account or investment pieces like a new bed or a deposit for a new car. You do not need to get lattes every morning. Yes, they are delicious. Yes, the Vida guys call you princess. It's not worth it. Getting lattes everyday just means you'll be spending more time at home with an empty fridge and no money to go out, watching SATC on repeat.

You can not pull off mini-skirts. You can rock dresses and low-cut things. Your boobs are great, they are the things that should be exposed. But those thighs are better left under a wrap dress or covered by bright stockings.

Christopher Bailey is gay. He will never love you. Stop. The. Obsession.

Monday's Mantra

This week is about deciphering those cryptic clues.
I believe happiness can be brought about with some good music.
I'm addicted to House and munching on NikNaks.
I wish life could be one big musical. Mamma Mia anyone?
I'm jealous of no one this week.
Soundtrack/Mantra for the week Some things I cannot change. But until I try, I'll never know
