Weekend News

On Friday the girls and gays went to see The September Issue. I think I love Anna Wintour even more. No matter if you’re interested in fashion or even care about Vogue magazine, you need to see this movie.

On Saturday, it was my birthday! I got given a lovely present by my roomie and fellow skinny bitch and then we went out for breakfast. We also did a little window shopping and found some amazing dresses. Only problem is, we’re crazy broke and it was the hardest thing to put them back because we need to spend our money on food and petrol. Too bad those dresses can’t do that.

Later that day, the gays came over again and we had a getting ready party for that evening. We started the night at Boo Radleys with friends and families. I was totally spoilt. Not only by the great cosmos. Not too sweet and not too sour but perfect. And I got amazing gifts. It was awesome. So awesome in fact that I think I may have to celebrate it again in six months. Birthdays totally need anniversaries. After cocktails, we headed to the Dubliner where drinks were doubled, I hurt Blue Eyes when I tried to do the jumping lift from Dirty Dancing and almost slapped a girl who kept dancing in our area. “Bitch, that’s my song. I need to break it down.”

The next morning, however, was not so awesome. The last time I was that hung-over was the year before, also at my birthday. I did not feel good. It got so bad I had to go home to my parents house so my mom could look after me. In the end I had to sleep it off and later that evening when I eventually came to, I was ravenous. After 10 hours of sleep, I ate everything in my way. I’m back to feeling normal but am still pretty dehydrated so have attached a large water bottle to my side.

Hope everyone else’s weekend was just as fabulous.

Feel-Good Friday

Yeah it's Friday! This week felt soooo long so I'm really happy it's the weekend. Tonight the girls and gays are going to watch The September Issue. I'm tres excited.

And then tomorrow is my birthday. I'm going to be 23 so tres excited for that too! As you can tell I'm in one of those bubbly moods and not much can make me sad. In case you're not having one of those days, you need to watch this video. It's a little old and you may have seen it but it will most definitely give you the warm fuzzies and will make you want to have an office romance.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

My Holiday

This year I had one of those amazing holidays that I never wanted to end. Now I realise that sounds a bit silly. Who would ever want a holiday to end. But sometimes, mostly when I was studying I would get a bit reckless when I had so many days free. This year I only had two weeks so I decided I'd make the most of it. And what better place to spend it than Cape Town.

What I did:

*I finished my xmas shopping in record time.

*I walked to most places in town, burning off calories and saving petrol.

*I watched Avatar and although the graphics were amazing I thought the plot and script were eh.

*I went to the beach on an overcast day and burnt.

*I along with Blue Eyes hosted our first ever Christmas party, aptly titled Christmas Ho Ho Hos and Bros.

*I went to the gym and had the best workouts because I didn't have to rush.

*I found out where all the cheap breakfast spots are. Carmellos in Kloof street have a great special on btw.

*I watched 2012 and cheered along with the rest of the cinema when Cape Town was the place they all sought refuge.

*I went to the beach on a scorching day and got a nice tan.

*We had the most amazing burgers at Royale.

*I tried to master my new curling iron. It's not going too well. Half my hair has these amazing waves while the rest look like little girl curls.

*I had one of the best cosmopolitans at FTV. But I really do not like the remodelling.

*I saw The Rebound and have found myself in love with Justin Bartha.

*I watched the sunset at Signal Hill.

*I counted in New Years with my gays.

*I ate way too much carbs.

*I went to the aquarium and saw how slow the sharks swim. I could totally outswim them.

Hope everyone else had a faboosh holiday.

This Year...

Third day back at work and am still crying out for my bed or to be at the beach.

Luckily work has not been too strenuous, in fact it’s pretty slow. This is normally a good thing, especially if I’ve come to work hung-over or feel like having a lazy day. I’m a bit sleepy today so the lack of deadlines is a great friend.

In order to stay awake and look productive in case any of the bosses stroll past my computer, I decided to make a list of things I should be doing this year. I don’t want to call them resolutions because I’m pretty crap with discipline and labeling them so will automatically give me the green light to forgo them. So instead I’m just trying to accomplish some stuff.

This year:

*I want to go to the gym four times a week.

*I want to watch what I eat (not in the “look how pretty the food is looking” way but seriously stop eating so much crap).

*I want to think before saying no to any requests. I don’t want to look back and regret things because I was not feeling up to it or I thought I couldn’t do it.

*I want to make small changes like switching from coke to coke light, to saying please and thank you more often, buying the Big Issue and to drink more water.

*I will not let grownup mean girls make me feel inferior. If you have a problem with the way I dress, act or the fact I’m getting more attention than you, then deal with it. That’s why it’s called your problem.

*I’m going to start saving money properly.

*I’m going to stay positive. No one likes a grumpy gills.

That’s just a bunch of things I want to try and do. I have more but am so afraid it’ll be too much too soon and then I’ll give up and you’ll find me eating bag after bag of chips with full-fat coke and no money.

Anything special you guys wanna do this year?

Monday's Mantra

This week is my birthday week. Hurrah!
I believe 2010 holds change for me.
I'm addicted to Oreo McFlurrys.
I wish I knew what I wanted.
I'm jealous of all those people still on holiday. Bitches.

Back At Work - Sad Face

So...today is the day I start work after a fabulous holiday. Instead of being all grumpy gills like I was yesterday about the prospect (I threw a tantrum and was told to grown up) I have decided to be postive.

That is almost working. In all truth, it hasn’t been a bad day. I managed to find the will power to get up before the sun and go to gym. Considering I was in near comatose state, I’m not sure if I actually worked out or had a nap in the sauna room. Either way my pores are unblocked and my hair is frizzy. I then managed to get dressed, get my lunch and drive all the way here. I ignored all possible exits off the freeway and actually arrived at work. Things were going okay.

Now as it is my first day back, I thought I’d treat myself. If this were still the holidays, I’d be treating myself by staying in bed. But since I ran out of leave days and I like to think the place would burn down without me, I ventured to work and would have to make due with a different kind of treat. A much smaller one. Mostly because I cannot treat myself to Bradley Cooper and I used all my money on New Years. So I decided a latte would be the perfect way to start my day.

After a quick trip, I switched on my computer and waited for the gazillion emails to download. This was a nice way to begin the day, little work, coffee and half the people I don’t like in the office still on leave. I;m still trying to get into the day and have to admit am working as slowly as possible. I’m taking the opportunity that the little people in the office won’t notice that I’m filing, answering mails, uploading pics to Facebook and catching up on FML. There are some advantages to returning to work.

In few minutes, will be posting the mantra( It’s back bitches!) and recapping on my holiday. Until then, have a great day!

Our Own Little Xmas Tree

I've finally gotten 'round to posting the pictures.

Here is our purple-and-silver-decorated tree.

Only one day and a bit and then Santa is coming! Tres exciting. I'm really hoping I'll find Robert Pattinson or Taylor Lautner under the tree. Have been hinting all year!

No feeling the inner Christmas cheer this year

It's almost 5pm (a normal working person's time to go home, but not mine) and I'm sitting at the office slowly losing all my Christmas cheer. It's one thing to work right up until 24th Dec (12:00) stay tuned as this time may be extended, but to know that you're going to stress of the Christmas holidays about work is the final straw. And I really think I've had enough.

I'm looking around the office and i'm the only one here in the account management department...starting to think I've been dealt the short-hand. Don't mean to go all Grinch-like on the blog, but a change needs to happen, Im not hapy anymore (with work that is).

On a good note, I'm hopig to go home sometime soon and watch a Christmassy movie with Green Eyes in our very Christmassy lounge, maybe pour myself a christmassy sized drink.

If we don't chat again, I hope you are having a better time than I am and catch you after Christmas.

Merry Christmas

B.E.

Is there anything more annoying...

...than someone who uses more than one punctuation mark after a sentence.

Seriously, one exclamation mark gives the phrase or statement enough emphasis.

Adding triple question marks at the end does not make it any more of a query.

Learn your grammar bitches!
